JOSÉ LUIS DUOMARCO (1905–1985)

Uruguayan physician who developed original work in medical physics and  heart and venous physiology.

He graduated at the School of Medicine of the Universidad de la República (Uruguay), in Montevideo, in 1930.

Duomarco published 130 original scientific papers in Uruguayan and foreign revues,l and two books: Intra-abdominal pressure of man (1947), and Central and peripheral venous pressure (1964), both in collaboration with Dr. Ricardo Rimini.

Postage stamp: Dr. José L. Duomarco, Uruguay, issued in December, 1998. This stamp commemorates the 70th anniversary of the first scientific paper published by Dr. José L. Duomarco, About the physiopathology of diabetes, published in 1928 in the magazine “El Estudiante Libre” (The Free Student).
